Keelon Russell evaluates his first career start at quarterback for Alabama

Keelon Russell has his first start as an Alabama football quarterback under his belt after he led the Tide to a 48-10 win over East Carolina.
Russell finished the game with 256 receiving yards en route to completing 18 of his 30 passing attempts. He also led Alabama in rushing with 86 yards. He evaluated his performance against the Pirates after the game.
“The biggest takeaway is just operational speed, in and out the huddle,” Russell said. “I’ve gotta be a little bit better on that. I’m gonna criticize myself on that just because I don’t look at myself as a freshman. I look at myself as a veteran. I wanna just thank the guys for just sticking in with me, not giving up on me. The linemen, they were phenomenal today. The receivers they were phenomenal today, and I could do better on myself on my behalf.”
The Alabama quarterback made some impressive throws throughout the game, and he connected with Ryan Coleman-Willliams several times during his first start.
Coleman-Williams finished the game with 130 receiving yards on five receptions.
Alabama will return to the practice field next week and start preparing for Kentucky to open up SEC play.
The Tide will travel to Lexington to take on Kentucky.
