Former 5-Star takes first reps at quarterback in Alabama football’s second scrimmage

Keelon Russell took the first reps with the Alabama Crimson Tide’s first-team offense in the second scrimmage of fall camp, sources tell Touchdown Alabama.
Russell is a former five star, and he is battling for the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback role alongside Austin Mack.
Mack took the first-team reps first in the first scrimmage of fall camp last week. Ryan grub said the tide is expected to announce a starting quarterback soon earlier this week.
“We’re close. I mean, we’re getting close to game week,” Grubb said. “So I would say, you know, by next week, we’ll have to make that call.”
